comments from parents and students
Wonderful school for students that want to or need to develop their education in ways that aren't accommodated well in more traditional settings. My daughter would not have graduated had she stuck with Humberside or comparable schools, and she wouldn't have blossomed and thrived to the same extent, had she not been fortunate enough to work with the caring and dedicated teachers at TSS.

A letter from an alumni, May 2015
I know you have seen thousands of students over your career so I doubt you'll remember me, but I graduated in 2005 after struggling through Humberside and Ursula Franklin. After graduation I went to Humber for my paramedic diploma and I've been working as a paramedic for York Region since. Now, 10 years later as I receive my acceptance to McMaster medical school I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude to those at TheStudentSchool who were crucial to getting me here. Without your school I would never have graduated, and without your science classes I never would have learned, not only that I could actually be good at school, but also that I could actually enjoy it too.
You and your colleagues at TheStudentSchool make a big difference - you definitely turned my life around!

I'm a former student of the Student School! I have been diagnosed with ADHD from a young age and was told I would never graduate High School. My grades were very low and I barely got by high school until I discovered the Student School.
I then excelled and achieved high marks even 92 % in one of my courses. I don’t know what I would do or where I would be without the Student School. I graduated and now I am a successful self-employed real estate agent .

At the time of writing this my daughter is awaiting her honours diploma for the second BA she has earned since leaving TSS. She graduated from TSS with marks that allowed her to be accepted into McGill University, and she is now embarking on an amazing career, which she loves. She has matured into an incredibly empathetic, valuable, productive, caring member of our society. I can say without a doubt that TSS played an important role in her journey. Before TSS I was worried that she was heading down a very uncertain path, and high school graduation was not likely in her future- but she found TSS and her life turned around. TSS holds a place in this city for many students, like my daughter, who have a difficult time at this juncture of their lives, and it is in a huge part the attention and caring of the calibre of teachers that it attracts that make this possible.

At the Student School I didn’t feel the need to conform, look and do the same as everyone else. I was able to be myself without feeling worried about being left out or being made fun of.

“THESTUDENTSCHOOL is so different from most other schools, you hardly feel like you’re in high school. The academics are still there, but the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly …. I would never have completed high school if I hadn’t come here.”

This note of sincere thanks is extended to all at The Student School. My children needed desperately to find a school due to numerous circumstances mostly beyond their control, and were very fortunate to find themselves enrolled in The Student School.
The school environment was a terrific experience, where students were always treated with respect and supported at all times to achieve their fullest academic potential and learn to appreciate the efforts of others to open their eyes to our ever changing world.
The girls have now both graduated, and will always carry wonderful memories of the loving and caring environment, that they were privileged to be a part of ...so to anyone that has an opportunity to read this testimonial...there is no finer group of caring individuals that I have ever had the chance to know...on behalf of my children and my wife and I...a heartfelt thanks to everyone at The Student School.
